slippin' and slidin'
now this is getting more fun and exciting...
was browsing ebay last night for manual (and af lenses) for minolta (yup, i'm still trying to acquire them good rokkor lenses) and was intrigued how much dimage a1 and a2 are being sold used nowadays (a200 being the latest - brand new for ~usd500 - one of those 8mp superzoom dcams with 2/3 sized sensors!)... and i noticed this gadget called 'slide projector' came up with my query and here's 1 version (image borrowed from the Net):

now, this is really a very interesting tool! i have quite a number of slides i wanted to convert to digital for archiving but didn't really get the time to do it. scanning 1 frame of slide or negative is time consuming - not to mention that its power and memory hungry. i think that 1 roll (36 slides/frames) might eat 1hr of my time and i have to attend to the scanner from time to time - it's not an automatic process that's why :P back to the 'slide copier'... the cost is about usd60 and it's really neat, looks convenient and more efficient than scanning. i could just imagine just pressing the shutter for every slide i put on that thingy and all i have to do is get the files from the cfcard! is there an easier way than that?! as b1 and b2 routinely ask to each other - are you thinking what i'm thinking?! yeah! i just got to have one of that!!! heeheehee.
now, early this morning... still thinking of that neat slide copier - while looking for my camera filter (will let my ofcmate play with them) - i noticed that leica tube.....................and............... eureka! grabbed the leica lens and the a40 - remember them?:

and hurriedly took some of my slides (was already expired when i used it in mumbai 2yrs back)... held 1 against the other end of the leica tube... set the a40 to macro.... full zoom and - yeah baby yeah!!!

i sampled 2 of the EXPIRED slides and here they are:

taxi driver, on my way to the planetarium
only in india? a manually operated ferris wheel for 6

again, this were hurriedly done. i have yet to try it again tonight - this time, with light behind the slides... must... go... home!!!
